This was one of the first projects in Year 2 at GSA where I started experimenting with the commercial side of interior design, and using different software for visuals, for example, Photoshop and Vectorworks. In our brief we were each given a small shop to design the interior and exterior, I was given a record store and secretly was delighted! My first thought when I was given this small shop was, when I walk into a record shop I step back in time, I go into my own bubble listening to the faint static noise on vinyl. I wanted to create this shop almost like a time away from the modern world, a break from social media. So, throughout the shop I created cozy social areas, where you can listen to records in your own space or have a chat. The area we where given was a shop in Trongate, Glasgow, the square foot of the space was very small so in model making I created different shapes in wall shelves to store the vinyls throughout the shop. I wanted this space to be gateway for all generations and when they come into the store to enjoy the music and social aspect of the space. ‘The Way To Music…’
